Global Open RAN Center of Excellence (CoE)
We have established the Global Open RAN Center of Excellence (CoE) in the U.K. to accelerate the global adoption of Open RAN and to further strengthen its structure for accelerating the global deployment of 5G.
This new CoE is responsible for business and solution development, product development support, project execution and technical support for NEC's global Open RAN business. It will form the backbone of NEC’s global project delivery capability, building on the company’s long term experience in communication, across the globe.

Key Responsibilities
• Work with customers to integrate and commission OpenRAN elements RU, DU, and CU, involving Transport Network, RAN and Core platforms in the customer pilot and commercial deployments
• Detailed analysis of element logs and subscriber traces to pinpoint and resolve integration issues including Networking troubleshooting layer 2 and layer 3 issues using sniffers (Wireshark, tcpdump, etc.)
• React to all customer requests in a timely & professional manner and own & resolve, with the assistance of other team members, all assigned issues in a timely & professional manner
• Creation of integration procedures, as built documents, software upgrade and rollback procedures for each element or service delivered to customer
• Provide technical support to Product Management team as and when required throughout the project life cycle
• Adds value to the team as a resource in his or her field of product expertise in addition to leveraging this expertise across the telecommunications field as a whole by actively participate in technical transfer sessions
• Identify improvements to support processes to the management team & assist in improvement initiative

The Job
NEC is looking for creative, people-oriented and technical professionals who are passionate and results driven to strengthen the COE organization. This position can be located anywhere in Europe in one of our offices or working from a suitable home office.
As part of the 5G CoE System Engineering team in NEC Europe, the ORAN Implementation and Test Engineer will provide implementation services for NEC’s Open RAN deployments, which include the network deployment and solution test activities needed from initial install through to customer acceptance. Of course, NEC will provide you with the required training on the products, solutions and technologies enabling you to grow and develop the specialist knowledge required to serve our customers according to the highest standards for which NEC is known.

Skills and Experience
• Relevant and recent experience in LTE system integration, testing and troubleshooting (system logs, OS logs, UE logs, network logs, etc.)
• RAN Integration knowledge and experience and proven track history
• Knowledge in OpenRAN integration protocols between RU, DU and CU
• Strong end-to-end RAN knowledge (2G, 3G, 4G, 5G)
• RAN Technologies (vRAN, Small Cells, MIMO, Timing and Sync with GPS, PTP)
• Understanding of Networking Protocols like IP, TCP, SCTP, IPSEC
• Understanding of 3GPP standards, including procedures, call flows, KPI, statistics
• Provide knowledge transfer and knowledge sharing to internal teams and colleagues
• Good knowledge of Linux OS
• Ability to quickly grasp and adapt to new technologies and concepts.
• Ability to work flexibility, taking ownership for the engineering function and demonstrate ability to take on additional tasks to achieve project deadlines.
