Junior 5G/6G Digital Electronics Engineer

Position:             Junior 5G/6G Digital Electronics Engineer (Recent Graduate/PhD/Masters)

Based                  Flexible hybrid home and office working environment

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated engineer to join our growing team.  The team develops digital systems and IP components for NEC's world-leading portfolio of O-RAN mobile telecommunication network products.

The product development is multi-national and multi-discipline, with the focus in the UK being the core digital signal processing and O-RAN packet processing functions. We are applying the latest massive-MIMO and software defined radio techniques on cutting-edge SoC FPGAs and ASIC technologies.  


Key Responsibilities (dependent upon the candidate’s skills and interests)
  • Develop and maintain Python based tools to support verification activities
  • Analyse and verify signal-processing and packet processing IP components.
  • Develop and maintain complex testbenches and bus-functional-models for logic simulation and hardware evaluation.
  • Maintain and configure simulation libraries and third-party IP using EDA vendor tools

Essential Experience and Knowledge
  • Software programming with at least one object-oriented language.
  • Familiarity with digital electronics principles.
  • Basic usage of Linux.
  • Excellent English skills, both written and spoken.

Desirable Experience and Knowledge
  • Python programming
  • Modelling using a hardware description language (VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog)
  • Experience of EDA synthesis and and simulator tools (e.g. Xilinx/Altera/Aldec/Cadence/Synopsys/…)
  • C++ programming
  • Knowledge of digital signal processing and telecommunications technologies.
  • Scripting using shell and tcl.

Education

Educated to degree level in communications, electronics, physics, computing, maths or similar relevant engineering related discipline. M.Eng/MSc./PhD would be a plus.
