NEC Carrier Network Solutions provides Network & Security equipment and services to major European service providers. NEC is looking to hire talented people to strengthen the EMEA Support organization. The right candidate will be working within the NEC partner ecosystem to provide solutions tailored to client requirements and pain points whether OTS or customised. The support is based upon the technology verticals of transport (WDM/Packet optical/IP), Telco cloud (MANO/VIM/Public/Private) and network security (GI-LAN/end point/IPSec).

The job
NEC is looking for creative, people-oriented and technical professionals who are passionate and results driven to strengthen the EMEA presales organization. This position will be located at our Düsseldorf regional office, although working from a suitable home office is also an option. The presales engineer will work closely with the sales teams across Europe to build propositions and present solutions to NEC’s Client base. Of course, NEC will provideyou with the required training on the products, solutions and technologies enabling you to grow and develop the specialist knowledge required to serve our customers according to the highest standards for which NEC is known.

Key Responsibilities
  • Being NEC’s key interface for all IP design and technical related questions or concerns
  • To engage with Sales Account Managers from the early stage of the opportunity cycle.
  • Design and develop innovative and competitive solutions, working individually or leading a wider virtual team for the qualified opportunity
  • Participation in workshops with clients and partners on technical aspects.
  • Technical support for tenders.
  • Provide pre-sales technical support and technical expertise to solve customer’s business issues
  • Influence and impact customer’s buying decision
  • Use customer relationships to influence content of RFP’s pro-actively
  • Support the Sales Account Manager with the commercials of the opportunity
  • Act as a trusted advisor to both the customer and the peers within NEC
  • Qualify opportunities and leads based on technical and commercial criteria
  • Adopt a Lead role in major bids and technical responses by providing regular roadmap updates and managing customer requirements
  • Conduct technical presentations for customers at all levels
  • Actively engage with the market, through key partners and suppliers and leverage relationships where ever possible


Skills & Experience Required
  • This role requires a few years’ experience in the telecommunications market, ideally from IP related Projects
  • Understanding of the telecommunication market
  • Knowledge of the competitive environment, both technically and commercially
  • A Cisco or Juniper certification is required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. It is important that you have the ability to articulate technical issues in a meaningful way to both team and executive level management
  • The ability to present and converse in a professional, confidant manner
  • Able to work effectively across cultures, languages, time-zones, in a smart working environment (remote working)
  • It is an advantage if you have experience from presales and design environment within Service provider arena.
  • Experience from an international work environment would be advantageous
  • Able to meet the travel requirements of the position
  • Strong facilitation and moderation skills
  • Demonstrates capacity and eagerness to learn
